Waiting List

Priority for adopting our available kittens is always given to individuals who are on our waiting list. How our waiting list operates:

Our waiting list is organised based on the date of initial contact. To illustrate, if you reached out to us on 01/01/2020 your position on the list will be ahead of someone who got in touch on 02/01/2020.

In addition to sorting by date, we also keep records of preferences such as breed, gender, and colour. Suppose you connected with us on 01/01/2020, expressing interest in a female British Shorthair, while another individual who reached out on 02/01/2020, expressed interest in a male British Shorthair.

If we happen to have only male kittens available, the person following you would be offered a kitten prior to you as they specified male.

However, it’s worth noting that we also keep track of preferences like “prefers female, but open to male.” In this scenario, the individual who contacted us on 01/01/2020, would be contacted first. We would discuss with them if they’re open to considering the available male kitten or if they’d rather wait for the next litter, hoping for their primary choice of a female kitten.

When we have kittens ready for adoption, we locate the person at the top of our list who matches the breed, gender, and color specifications of the available kitten. We then reach out to them to explore their interest in adopting the kitten.

If they’re interested, they receive the first opportunity to adopt that particular kitten. If they choose to wait for a future litter for any reason, or if they’ve found a kitten elsewhere and wish to be removed from the list, we move on to the subsequent person on our list, and this process continues.

Should you want to secure a kitten within the next 12 months, a non-refundable deposit of $200 is required. We limit the number of individuals who can opt for this to ensure we can honor this guarantee.

Adoption with Us: What to Expect

At Ausbrit Cattery (formerly Fluffyfolds), our breeding cats are cherished members of our family above all else. Our adored queens reside in our home, sharing our living space and even our bed. While our studs have their own self-contained unit due to spraying concerns, rest assured that they are far from anti-social. Our studs receive daily attention and affection.

When our queens bring new life into the world, they nurture their offspring until the moment they’re ready to embark on their own journeys. Our kittens are raised with tender care within our household, receiving constant interaction from the day they’re born. This ensures they become well-adjusted and sociable felines accustomed to the everyday sounds of a home (though, they might still have a moment with the vacuum cleaner!). Furthermore, we acquaint our kittens with both large and small dogs to promote positive socialisation.

Renowned for their easygoing demeanour and warm, approachable personalities, our kittens are a delight to have.

For those interested in pet-only kittens, our pricing includes:

Samples of food and litter your kitten is used to (unfortunately, this cannot be provided to kittens being transported interstate)

Some of the toys we have found tend to be “favourites”
6-week FREE PetPlan Pet Insurance Policy (you must contact PetPlan prior to the end of the free period to convert to a paid policy to maintain cover)
Carry Box & Litter Tray (if required)
 LIFETIME Support

Our kittens generally become ready for their new homes between 12 to 16 weeks of age. However, please note that we cannot guarantee a specific age for collection as each kitten’s development timeline varies, similar to how individuals grow at different rates.

The Standard Adoption Procedure: Around 4 to 5 weeks of age, we begin reaching out to individuals on our waiting list, informing them about kitten availability. Once you’ve expressed your interest in adopting a specific kitten from the litter, we will provide you with our adoption agreement. It’s important to understand that a kitten will only be marked as “reserved” once we receive a completed adoption agreement along with a deposit. Leading up to the collection date, we will make dedicated efforts to keep you informed through regular updates, photographs, and, whenever possible, videos shared on our Facebook page.

If you’re interested in joining our waiting list without any obligation, please feel free to get in touch with us.

When filling out the “Contact Us” form, please provide as much detail as you can. Our process isn’t solely based on monetary transactions; we prioritize ensuring our kittens find homes where they’ll receive the same care they would in our own household. To secure your place on the waiting list, it’s essential to maintain communication with us. Otherwise, we’ll assume that you’ve found a suitable option with another breeder and are no longer interested in the waiting list.

To reserve your chosen kitten, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required. If buyers are interested in having kittens delivered interstate or overseas, the associated costs will be covered by the buyer.

All kittens must be transported to their new homes in appropriate carry cages. If needed, we can provide a suitable cage for your convenience.
